AI and AR-Powered Motion Capture Platform for Tele-Rehabilitation

Outpace innovation,
don't just adopt it.

Powered by AI, accelerated through digital and cloud transformation, agile execution and product development.

Client Overview

MirrorAR  is a digital health technology company focused on developing advanced motion analysis solutions using artificial intelligence and augmented reality.

The company’s platform enables tele-rehabilitation, sports medicine, fitness assessment, and mobility analysis through AI-powered motion tracking. By transforming smartphones into motion capture systems, MirrorAR aims to make rehabilitation and movement assessment more accessible, scalable, and data-driven.

MirrorAR partnered with Touchcore Systems to develop a mobile platform capable of accurately measuring human motion using computer vision and machine learning without requiring wearable sensors or specialized equipment.

The Challenge

Traditional rehabilitation and motion tracking systems often rely on specialized hardware, sensors, or clinical equipment to measure patient movement accurately. These requirements limit accessibility and make remote rehabilitation difficult.

MirrorAR needed a solution capable of:

  • Capturing human movement accurately using only a smartphone

  • Eliminating the need for wearable sensors or specialized equipment

  • Delivering objective joint movement measurements using AI

  • Supporting personalized rehabilitation and exercise programs

  • Increasing patient engagement through real-time feedback

Developing such a platform required advanced computer vision algorithms capable of detecting and tracking body movements across different environments and conditions.

The Solution

Touchcore Systems developed a mobile AI motion-capture platform that analyzes body movement through smartphone cameras using advanced pose detection algorithms.

The system measures the movement angles of 16 key joints and tracks a patient’s range of motion over time, enabling clinicians and patients to monitor rehabilitation progress remotely.

Unlike traditional motion capture systems, the platform works without requiring wearable sensors or specialized equipment, making rehabilitation accessible from home or any environment.

Key Platform Capabilities

1. AI-Based Motion Tracking
Computer vision algorithms detect and track body movements, calculating joint angles for accurate mobility assessments.

2. Sensor-Free Movement Analysis
Patients can perform rehabilitation exercises using only a smartphone camera without wearable devices.

3. Personalized Rehabilitation Programs
The system generates customized treatment plans based on patient performance and recovery progress.

4. Real-Time Feedback and Progress Tracking
Patients receive instant feedback on exercise movements, improving compliance and engagement.

5. Secure Data Monitoring and Visualization
Movement data can be visualized on mobile devices and shared securely with clinicians for remote monitoring.

Outcomes

The solution successfully enables remote rehabilitation and mobility assessment through a smartphone-based platform.

Key outcomes include:

  • Accurate measurement of joint movement and range of motion

  • Real-time patient feedback to improve exercise adherence

  • Remote monitoring capabilities for clinicians and trainers

  • Reduced reliance on specialized rehabilitation equipment

  • Reliable performance across diverse environments, including outdoor settings and varying lighting conditions

The platform supports multiple applications including tele-rehabilitation, sports medicine, mobility assessment, and digital fitness training.

Reimagining Rehabilitation with Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence

Touchcore Systems developed an AI & AR-powered mobile platform that enables remote rehabilitation, mobility assessments, and fitness monitoring using only a smartphone camera. The solution combines computer vision, machine learning, and augmented reality to analyze human movement in real time and provide objective measurements for rehabilitation and physical therapy programs.
